Till this date, the Suzuki Gixxer SF has been one of the best motorcycle offerings in its segment. Introduced in 2015, the Gixxer SF had not received any sizable updates. But now, Suzuki has launched the updated version of the Gixxer SF alongside the new Gixxer SF 250. We spent our time testing the updated Suzuki at the Buddh International Circuit. Here’s our comprehensive Suzuki Gixxer SF review.
If you appreciate the Gixxer 250 for its looks, there is not much to not like about this one. As identical as it looks in comparison to its bigger sibling, there are a few differences we came across in our Gixxer SF review like the gloss paint shade and the decals on the fairing that set the Gixxer twins apart. However, in comparison to its predecessor, the Gixxer SF looks dapper and boasts a lot of noticeable differences. For starters, there is a new full-LED headlamp and tail lamp, split seats, clip-on handlebar and a new digital instrument cluster.
What seems to be carried over is the powertrain. Indeed, the Gixxer SF, at the heart of the matter is still powered by a 155cc mill that pushes out a healthy 13.9bhp and 14Nm of torque. That being said, the motor now makes marginally lesser power in accordance to the upcoming BS-VI norms. In our time filming the Suzuki Gixxer SF review, we were amazed how the power delivery remained as crisp and active as before. It still has a strong low-end and mid-range to keep the rider engaged on lower speeds. Moreover, the Gixxer SF sits on a revised version of the older chassis, and taking into consideration the strengthened chassis and clip-on handlebars, the bike now weighs 146kg – 6 kilos more than the predecessor. The added heft, however, is barely noticeable out on the road.
All the added heft and the revisions to the chassis has made the Gixxer SF a capable motorcycle in terms of riding dynamics. With the update, the Gixxer also demands a more committed riding position. However, it still isn’t as aggressive as the Yamaha but just enough to offer a balance of sportiness and comfort. At an introductory price of Rs. 1.09 lakh, the updated Gixxer SF demands a premium of Rs. 11,000 over its predecessor – given the fact that it features the same components underneath. But for many, the ones who would like to pay the premium – the updated Gixxer is easily one of the most engaging 150s out there.
