Islam is not only the religion of peace but also the religion of ease. Allah has provided Muslims with alternatives to the obligations during difficulties like when they are sustaining an injury, in a hurry or running short on time for salah. Nowadays, we are all in a hurry to work, college or whatever obligation one may be committed to. Therefore, carving out that time for salah becomes difficult for the professionals. Furthermore, it is essential to purify ourselves by performing ablution before salah.
During travel, we are all usually required to wear socks as a part of our work attire. However, at times, taking them off during ablution and inserting the cold, wet feet back into them really becomes uncomfortable and prone to catching odor fast. Therefore, we have provided Muslims with waterproof wudhu socksthat are fit for masah, thus, making ablution more convenient.
So, what is masah?
Masah is the Islamic act of wiping a body part with wet hands to cleanse it instead of pouring water all over it. This becomes essential when a body part is injured and needs to be kept dry for healing purposes. Masah can even be performed when one is short of time and needs to catch a meeting right after salah.
Furthermore, it is important to fully understand what masah is, which socks qualify for masah, acts that nullify masah, and how you can perform masah over your Wudhu Socks, (the waterproof socks for ablution)
Steps:
Follow these steps and save yourself from the hassle of removing prayer socks while performing ablution for salah.
- Make wudhu without The Wudhu Socks once before leaving home.
- Next time you have to make ablution, you don’t have to take your Wudhu Socks off.
- Wet your hands with water.
- Starting from the upper surface of the toes to the ankles, move the hand along the khuff (waterproof socks for ablution)
- Use the right hand once for the right khuff and left hand once for the left khuff.
Acts that nullify Masah:
Under the following circumstances, masah becomes invalidated.
- All the acts that nullify wudhu (wudu, wuzu)
- Removing both or even one of the khuffs
- Water entering the khuff and wetting more than half the foot
- Ghusl becoming obligatory.
- Expiry of the valid masah period [Musafir (traveler): 72 hours, Muqim (resident) :24 hours]
Khuffayn Qualifications:
Socks with the following qualities qualify as khuffain according to the majority of Islamic scholars:
- The socks must prevent water from passing through them easily. In other words, the socks must be able to hold out water for a certain period of time.
- The socks must be durable enough that if one walks in them, without shoes, for a certain length (around 3 miles), the socks should not tear or slip down the legs beneath the ankles.
- The socks, without support, must be able to retain their shape alone.
