DU or the University of Delhi is one among the largest Universities in India. Formerly known as Delhi University it was established in the year 1922 by an act of Central Legislative Assembly. The University is the main body that has many colleges under its wing and all these colleges provide various courses for the candidates to complete their Under Graduate, Post Graduate, Masters in Philosophy and Doctorate degree too. From all around the country candidates appear for the Admissions processes offered by DU to start their courses. Where some admissions are taken on the basis of Previous Qualifying Exam Marks, some courses and colleges require candidates to appear for an Entrance Test.
MA Philosophy in India is a 2-year postgraduate course which is offered by many universities and colleges throughout the country. The admission is given through both entrance exams and cut-off lists. The basic eligibility for pursuing this course is that the student should have cleared their bachelor’s degree from a recognized institute with philosophy or any related subject as the chief subject. MA Philosophy is a majorly theoretical course which imparts to students the knowledge of human psychology and the associated tenets. It gives them a better understanding of the world and teaches the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality, and existence.
MA Philosophy teaches about different philosophies around the world. The course gives students a new outlook upon the world and makes them understand the nuances of human behavior. A deep and critical study, this course is majorly a theoretical course and helps students analyze the world better. The DU MA Philosophy Syllabus ranges from Indian philosophers to the Greek philosophers and also encompasses the western philosophers.
The major topics taught include Logic, Ethics, Language, Religion, Reality, etc. The students also study about various ‘isms’ and religious perspectives. It not only talks about the different philosophers and their philosophies but also situates the historical philosophies in the current contexts and provides a critical view on them. It is a wide course which incorporates various philosophical tenets like that of feminism, symbolization, imagination, Marxism etc.
