The HONOR 8X has attracted everyone’s attention since it was launched. Wanting to further review it? Now here is a test to show HONOR 8X pros and cons.
- Design
The design of HONOR 8X is a quintessential HONOR design. It boasts of a glossy dual-tone design with its dazzling light reflecting properties, metal trim and notched display, making the glass back look and feel premium. And the HONOR 8X comes with an impressive 91% screen-to-body ratio with a much smaller bottom chin compared to previously launched HONOR phones, which is another highlight. I really like this stylish design.
But, like many phones using the glossy back, the HONOR 8X’s back is extremely prone to smudges and scratches. Putting a case on this phone is a good way to solve this problem, and it can make the phone personalized. For me, I like to use a transparent phone case because I want to enjoy the dazzling light of HONOR 8X.
- Display
The HONOR 8X comes with the largest display panel in the HONOR phone currently, which is a 6.5-inch LTPS LCD display. With a 2340 x 1080 resolution, the HONOR 8X produces a density of 397 pixels per inch. Although its screen resolution isn’t the best among the HONOR phones, its TÜV Rheinland certified Eye Comfort Mode also bring comfortable visual experience. What’s more, here’s a lot of customization available. The default ‘vivid’ mode is quite eye-catching, and there are three color temperatures available for us to choose from.
- Performance
The HONOR 8X comes with a HiSilicon Kirin 710 SoC, whose processor with up to 2.2 GHz. Instead of the over-used Kirin 659 on mid-range HONOR phones, this chipset is refreshing. And it has enough performance for everyday use.
- Camera
There’s a familiar looking dual camera setup on the back of the HONOR 8X. The rear camera setup consists of a 20-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor, both with f/1.8 apertures. And it highlights five major modes — Aperture, Night, Portrait, Photo, and Video. Video recording is capped at 1080p 60fps, so there’s no 4K recording option here. The AI camera capabilities of the HONOR 8X can recognize 22 different scenarios in which it can apply custom exposure and color corrections. In low-light, it can optimize most of the shots closest to what it looks like in real life, but sometimes it may look oversaturated.
