Peppertap is online grocery shopping company headquartered in Gurgaon. It was founded by Navneet Singh and Milind Sharma in November 2014. It is on demand grocery delivery which is accessible via both mobile application and website. It started its operations in Gurgaon and now it has service locations in major cities of the India such as Delhi NCR, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Kolkata, and Pune. It will also expand into smaller cities.
Its first funding was five months after company started. It raised its funds from Sequoia Capital and SAIF Partners. Its second round of funding was led by Snapdeal. Ru-Next, JAFCO and BeeNext also participated in it. Funds raised were 36 million USD. Amount will be used to expand its network to 75 cities. In Series B funding, it has also raised extra 4 million USD from Innoven Capital. It has also acquired grocery online marketplace- Jiffstore for an undislosed amount.
Its major focus is on delighting its customers with effective service. On its mobile application, it has also introduced feature of ‘live chat’ to enable great user experience. It offers free delivery option for orders above INR 350. It also promises instant delivery i.e. you get your orders within two hours of the transaction done. Peppertap tries to keep its employers happy and satisfied in order to get better productivity
Current market size of e-grocery in the India is around 16 billion USD which shows wider space of growth for various hyperlocal online stores. This size is expected to grow more with advent of new companies and change in consumer behavior.
