GSTR 9 is an annual return form which is required to be filled by all the taxpayers before 31st December every year. The annual form includes all the transactions related to the SGST, CGST and the UTGST and they should be mentioned in the GSTR 9 form as compulsory. For the financial year 2017-18, the due date for filling the GSTR 9 is 30th June 2019. Besides this, the facility of filing the GSTR 9C and GSTR 9A form has also be commenced by the government following both the offline and online modes for the ease of taxpayers.
If taxpayer files through offline utility, the excel sheet for mentioning of all the details are already provided. While opting for the online mode of filing, the taxpayer has to login into his authorized account.

However, the taxpayers are availed with the utility of viewing draft file and reconcile before filing on GST portal but they are not allowed to make any sorts of changes. Complete Procedure of Previewing GSTR 9 Draft in Excel Format on GST Portal
Step: 1: First and foremost Login to www.gst.gov.in using authorized user id and password.
Step: 2: When redirected to the user profile dashboard, click on the ‘Annual Return’ tab
Step: 3: Select financial year as per the return filling, now click on the FY 2017-18.
Step: 4: Now click on the ‘Prepare Online’ tab of Annual Return GSTR 9.
Step: 5: Now a new window will open with a query for Nil Return Filing with Yes or No options and then move further to click ‘Next’
Step: 6: The next window will showcase you ‘Preview Draft GSTR 9-Excel’ tab in the rightmost corner of the footer.
Step: 7: It will result in displaying a message on your dashboard considering details of downloading the draft excel format of GSTR 9.
