Huawei P30 is an upcoming model of Android-powered smartphones from the Chinese telecommunications giant. Unveiled in February 2021, they significantly exceed the Huawei P20 in the already popular P series in the industry. As with all smartphone models of this brand, specifications are subject to change with each announcement. Until now, the P series has been the top smartphone in China. With the P30, it is expected that the quality of the phones produced by this brand will not be compromised.
Hence, we take a quick look at the new smartphone and its features.
1. The dual camera setup on the rear of the smartphone is a first for a smartphone of this category. Coupled with a pair of optical zoom and video recording lenses, the front-facing shooter can capture a couple of shots at up to three megapixels. The dual lens setup is also present on some modern smartphones. The advantage of this setup is that it gives the user better pictures in low light conditions.
2. One of the biggest spec rumors surrounding the P30 was about a dual-core processor with an octa-core modem. The processor may not be a quad-core processor, as some spec sheets shown on online websites do suggest. An eight-core processor is said to be the maximum that one can expect from any smartphone in this class today. The high speculations have made many consumers speculating about the possible price of the handset.
3. As one would expect, the phone has a host of features packed into it. Amongst these, one of the most talked about is the camera feature. Users are excited about the prospect of having a bigger and better camera than the one found on the P8. There are a number of smartphone users who prefer to have larger and better cameras compared to the ones present in the P8.
4. A feature known as augmented reality is also coming up as a feature with the P30. It offers users the ability to make use of their smart phones as a remote control for different devices. This is something that the company may introduce later in the future when the product gets ready for release. Whether or not this comes in future models is unknown at this point in time.
5. One of the biggest speculations about the P30 concerns the display and screen size of the handset. It is rumoured that the phones will be available with 5.5 inch screens and that they will sport a pixel density of 401 pixels per inch. However, these claims remain unconfirmed at the moment. Another spec that is quite rampant is the presence of a media player in the smartphone. There have been many rumors about the presence of media players in other phones too, which might end up being true or not.
6. One of the most unique features of the P30 is the virtual keyboard. This is inbuilt in the smartphone and is accessed using the on-screen keys. When this feature is used, the user is able to type the text in full view and even have formatting options such as font sizes, colours and so on. Since the P30 uses a QWERTY keyboard, it follows the trend of other recent smartphones where keys are arranged in their unique placement. This can be done using a tap of the fingers which gives the best experience when using a touch screen. The on screen keyboard of the P30 also has different fonts and symbols, which allow one to personalize the way they would like their phone to look.
The physical layout of the P30 is clearly one of a kind. Most of the current smartphones have their on screen keypad located somewhere below the display and in some cases even above it. This has been the case with the P30 too, but it has been positioned such that it can be reached with one hand easily. This is the first instance of a smartphone manufacturer having two different keypads on one handset. Other manufacturers are sure to follow suit with more innovative handsets in the future.
